CRUISIN’ WITH RAY - DECISION
DECIDING ON A CRUISE HOLIDAY
A cruise is one of the most comfortable, exciting and economical ways to travel the world. Your floating hotel takes you to different ports in different countries and you are fed, pampered and looked after in a totally stress free environment.
Before you leave home, you basically know the cost of your holiday and as a consequence, if a side trip to a very historic city can be added, then the holiday will be that much more enriched.
Once the decision has been made to take a cruising holiday, the next one is to decide on the type of cruise:
1. The Alaskan Inside Passage
2. Coastal cruises, such as the Hurtigruten, which cruises the Norwegian fjord coast all the year round
3. Baltic Sea Cruises
4. Mediterranean Sea cruises
5. River cruises and Canal Barge Cruises, such as in France
6. Steam boat cruising, such as the Mississippi river USA, Murray River Australia
All of the above travel in mostly protected waters, which is the ideal type for those people who are vulnerable to sea sickness.
7. Oceanic and Island cruising
8. Adventure, expedition or cultural cruises
9. Round the world cruises and segments
10. Sailing clipper cruises
11. Freighter travel
Each of the above have their fans, but certainly river cruising is now the most rapidly increasing category.
